A Growing Deficit: Who’s to Blame?

In recent years, many have led us to believe that we are approaching an era in American history that is going to mean either total catastrophe or a complete overhaul of the way we organize our budget. The media insists that this fiscal cliff, caused by uncontrollable, “all-consuming” debt, will send us spiraling to a situation in which we are strapped into a straightjacket composed of debt. Now, obviously this fear mongering has a political purpose, but in order to understand its roots one must inspect all aspects of the budget and measure how far down the problem really goes. Though some argue between the fault belonging to the 1% or the 47%, through the inspection of the budget by way of revenues and outlays, and its implication on American political life we can point to several policy solutions that will actually benefit the way we live in this country.
