This paper was created in a policy class I took on ceontemporary issues in American politics. This particular paper looks at the recession, what caused it, and what are some future directions we can go from here.

Slow and Steady Wins this Race

When one is chewing bubble gum and wishes for the bubble to be as big as possible, that is all they think about. But once the film of the bubble gets too thin, the bubble will burst and the chewer will have a face full of gum. Not coincidentally this is exactly what happened with the recent housing bubble in the United States and just like bubble gum, the mess is horrendous. Also like the bubble gum, this is a common phenomenon, so why is this particular slump so bad and what can we do about it? Though some may say the way to manage the resulting recession is through extreme austerity, we must look at the causes of this downturn, previous government actions, and residual economic problems to find a suitable long-term course of action.
